https://youtu.be/62enZCYgVTE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLqxMHoqZuM

Junior high school students in the USA compile, direct, and act Chinese microfilms

On May 19th. 2018,  International Microfilm Festival of Stafford Academy Middle School came to an end. The school has held the international microfilm festival for six consecutive years with the purpose of encouraging students to be creative with the knowledge they have grasped.

Stafford Academy is one of the teaching sites of Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College(CIWC), so the students there have learned a lot of Chinese. Those students decided to make Chinese micro-films and  their debut gained enormous praise from teachers and students throughout the school.

In previous years, there were only Latin, French, and Spanish microfilms. This year, the languages were more diverse with the participation of  Chinese. Throughout the entire process, students at Stafford Academy wrote their own Chinese scripts, designed their own shots, shot themselves, edited and performed by themselves. Their performance was really remarkable.

There are 3 Chinese micro-movies participating in this event. Eleven students from Grade 8 in the seventh grade have made tremendous efforts for this purpose. Donna Han and Jiali Bao, the Chinese teachers from CIWC helped modify their scripts.

Nancy Gordillo, one of the judges of the International Microfilm Festival, highly praised the Chinese microfilm and hoped that Chinese language will continue to be one of the languages used in the micro-film contests in the following years.
