Did you know that the U.S. government sponsors several programs for American students to study Chinese, including the Critical Language Scholarship, the Boren Fellowship, and the National Security Language Initiative for Youth? Studying a foreign language can open many new opportunities for cultural exchange, overseas study, and future employment.
To encourage American students to study Mandarin and other languages, last week the State Department launched a new website (https://languages.state.gov) that centralizes information on existing U.S. government language programs, scholarships, internships and more, so that American students interested in learning Mandarin and more than 100 other languages can learn about language-training programs that fit their own personal interests and goals.
